Zero Trust

advanced

Definition

A security mindset that says 'don't automatically trust anyone, even inside the building.' Every person and every device has to prove who they are and what they're allowed to do for every important action: instead of being given a free pass just because they're connected to the company Wi-Fi.

In the wild

An employee at her desk in the head office wants to open a sensitive HR report. Even though she's physically inside the company building on the company network, the system still asks her to log in and approve a request on her phone. Being 'inside' isn't proof of anything anymore.
